The Washed Denim Project
back to all news

The Washed Denim Project sees Thomas Mason and Budd collaborate with Matt Hranek once again to create two outstanding men’s shirts – a denim tux dress shirt and a simple but cool, denim day shirt.

Both shirts are cut from an exclusive, limited edition Thomas Mason washed denim, which has been dyed to a flattering and truly unique shade of blue.

Matt Hranek, founder of the WM Brown Project, had a clear idea of what he wanted the fabric to look like: a cloth that would soften and fade with wash and wear, maturing with its own patina or “rub”.

"I have more blue shirts in my wardrobe than any other colour. Particularly chambray and denim in all weights and styles. I always fish in blue chambray and my favourite shirts to wear with white jeans and a tweed blazer are in light blue washed denim. I have always wanted a version of this shirt to wear with a tuxedo, with a pleated bib and pearl buttons."

What truly sets this denim apart is the meticulous treatment it receives: a custom bleach process developed specifically for Budd, designed to achieve its exclusive tone and colour.

Each shirt is styled with Matt’s signature collar shape and cocktail cuff.
