In England, Thomas Mason, one of the leading entrepreneurs in the English textile industry, started working right in the middle of the Industrial Revolution. A far-reaching man, capable of taking the opportunity in a sector that, up until then, had only counted on a large manual component.

For centuries, in fact, in the areas between Yorkshire and Lancashire, at the foot of the Pennines, textile products were produced with ancient methods: spinning was done by hand at home or in the stalls and then the fabric was made on hand looms.
